Behind the Cover Art: June, 2026

This month’s cover was inspired by a vintage photograph of my great-grandmother and her daughters in early 1900s swimwear, set against a painted beach backdrop. Although I was unable to locate the original photo, I referenced historical colors and patterns from the 1860s onward to guide my painting. My goal was to depict figures who appeared both cheerful and cautious about getting their swimwear wet. After selecting a suitable reference image, I added a sailboat to promote an upcoming dance event. The research for this piece took longer than the painting itself, but I believe the result was worthwhile and hope you agree.
