Anne is a wonderful photographer who happens to be a resident of our community as well as a neighbor down the street from my house. She has contributed many landscape photographs for consideration and two have been picked so far, with more to come.

This is the original photograph submitted before cropping for the magazine. We were able to stay very close to the original after the crop. I would have loved using the whole cart if possible.

Most photographers including Anne, naturally choose to shoot in landscape mode; however, magazines are normally vertical as in portrait mode. In some cases, it is possible to crop down a great photograph and retain most of what the photographer wanted to convey. Sometimes, a whole new subject matter or feeling becomes the result of the crop.

Anne has trusted my judgement to choose with sensitivity when cropping her photographs for the magazine format. I always check-in with the photographer to get their approval before going to the printer for publication.
